The Faru Philosophy

At Faru, we take a wholistic approach to athletic development. Our process reflects the unique demands of mountain sports with a focus on the special adaptations that lead to success in the harsh and often high-altitude venues in which these events take place.

Every program we develop is informed by direct observations, grounded in science, and guided by continuous feedback between coach and athlete. We do not sell cookie-cutter training plans. Every workout we write and every block we build is specifically designed in cooperation with you and tailored to your personal objectives and racing goals. We believe in specificity, and to develop our athletes into more capable and confident competitors, our training reflects that belief.

When it comes to racing, we also know that great training cannot make up for poor race planning and pacing. We work closely with our athletes to develop race-day plans to help control variables, mitigate risks, and maximize performance. After all, when you do well, it feels like a win for us too!

We also believe that training has to be fun in order to be sustainable. It is important to us that the time you spent training is not only productive, but also personally fulfilling and motivating. We work with our athletes to balance structured time and workouts with both rest and unstructured training (read: adventures, friends, socializing, and soul-searching) so that athletes continue to grow as humans, while progressing as athletes without the burnout that can often come from single-dimensional and event-focused training plans.
